 n freedom was announced to enslaved individuals in Galveston\, Texas—mor
 e than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. As the birthplace of
  Juneteenth\, Galveston offers a meaningful setting for reflection on free
 dom\, resilience\, and progress.\n\nAt UTMB\, we are committed to honoring
  this history while fostering education\, connection\, and belonging among
