This event provides an opportunity for UTMB employees to come together in recognition of Juneteenth by engaging with campus resources, educational materials, and cultural reflections that honor the day’s legacy and relevance to our workplace community.

Juneteenth marks June 19, 1865, when freedom was announced to enslaved individuals in Galveston, Texas—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. As the birthplace of Juneteenth, Galveston offers a meaningful setting for reflection on freedom, resilience, and progress.

At UTMB, we are committed to honoring this history while fostering education, connection, and belonging among our employees. We encourage you to join us as we reflect, celebrate, and continue the legacy of Juneteenth together.
